As any good BBQer can attest, baked beans are a must when serving up smoked meat. After observing hundreds of professional cooking teams at various contests, it seems the vast majority take canned beans and doctor them up. One secret to keeping the beans whole is to not stir frequently. You should always drain the beans before doctoring. This will keep the mixture thicker. Also, Pork and Beans are NOT baked beans and can’t be turned into baked beans by doctoring!!!!
